Little Shyami

Posted by Aditya (Rewari, India) on 29 July 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

The summer holidays were quite eventful this time around; and I just returned from a disappointing trip. I had to cut short my Rohtang / Beas Kund trek within a day beacuse of the sudden demise of a relative.

The highlight and summary of my trip: 30 hours of travelling + 5 hours of beautiful sleep beside the river Beas. It just wasn't meant to be. This was taken @ Balana, Himachal Pardesh on the way to Rohtang Pass. If you ever take this route, take the road less travelled by and side step into any of the beautiful Himalyan villages. It'll be worth it.

This is Shyami. A surprising name for a Himalayan girl. She is 8 and she goes to school everyday. Her dad owns one of the biggest Dhabas (a roadside indian food stall) on the NH - 21. And they serve the most delicious Gobhi paranthas.
